Learning & Development and Technical Training

 

The thrust of Learning & Development efforts has been skill enhancement and capability building.   
At the business level the emphasis has been more on technical training, at the Group level a common training curriculum has been designed under the Corporate University framework.
Around 30 different titles of programmes have been designed for the India employees and we have till date completed 1000 man days of training.
To equip employees on the technical aspects a Technical Training certification for workmen, supervisory staff and managers has been initiated.
Various committees have been formed at the plant/business levels, which are in process of designing Skill matrix as well as technical training modules for technical capability building at the various businesses.
As of today, approximately 80 employees across Welspun locations have been certified as internal technical trainers.
Welspun has partnered with NTTF a renowned technical institute for workmen development, with the NTTF satellite centre set to be operational in a few months.
Currently, training systems are being developed by technical training committee members which will help in addressing the business needs.

Another initiative to emphasise the organisation’s focus on continued education encourages employees to enroll themselves for certificate courses offered by All India Management Association (AIMA).

 

Employees can avail of 1 year certificate courses on varied areas of general management, to encourage them to pursue higher studies while continuing work with the Group.
The Company pays the entire course fee on behalf of the interested staff and recovers the same from the salary in the form of fixed EMIs per month.
This has been significantly successful with more than 200 people already enrolled for the programme till date.
