We have built India’s first 14-lane sustainable green expressway. In record time. Across projects spanning highways, water, oil and gas, Welspun builds infrastructure that enables, enhances and enriches the lives of the people it touches.
We’re proactive to the immediate global need for sustainable practices and share a cherished bond with the communities we influence. With a steadfast commitment to areas of Education, Empowerment, Environment and Health, Welspun works closely with the surrounding villages to touch, heal and better the quality of lives around the world.
with the surrounding villages to touch, heal and better the quality of lives around the world. In everything we do, there is a strong commitment to sustainable development, balancing the needs of the present with those of the future.
A model village is a self-sustaining rural community. At Welspun, we conceived the idea of creating a model village in order to transform the livelihood of people in villages and rural areas. Our aim is to spread awareness and improve their infrastructure, sanitation, education, and access to healthcare.
Our vision of 2022 is to establish and improve 5 model villages in sites such as Anjar, Vapi, and Dahej.
Our aims include:
Increasing the enrolment of children in schools and improve graduation rates.
Empower people at these sites to apply for governmental identification (Aadhaar card, Voter ID, Ration card)
Provide sanitation, clean drinking water, access to healthcare with a medical centre, and eradicate malnutrition.
Provide lasting infrastructure that has a practical impact on their day-to-day lives, by developing ATMs, shops, and communication centres.
Education is the most primary, basic, and important need. We want to improve the quality of this basic need for children in villages and rural areas, which is why we have initiated the ‘Quality Education Project’ in Gujarat. This program aims to provide children with quality educations by appointing para-teachers. Para-teachers are appointed for specific subjects, teaching children from scratch and ensuring that they excel academically.
An example of the role of a para-teacher can be seen in Ajay’s situation. Ajay, a 12-year-old boy from the village of Shinugra, Anjar, did not attend school for 5 years and was seen working as a wage labourer to help his family. However, our para-teacher encouraged him to go back to school and handheld him during his learning process to bring him up to the same level as his peers.
We strongly stand for the empowerment of women, creating equal opportunities, and providing an environment that helps them earn a livelihood.
